1. D 由not easy living with them (their parents) (孩子觉得与父母生活在一起不易)与difficult to live with teenagers(父母觉得与十几岁的孩子生活在一起很难)可知,孩子与父母有“相似的”感受。

3. C 由前句的untidiness和后面的clothes thrown on the floor可知,房间是messy(凌乱不堪的)。

4. B 由上文提到的收拾房间之类的事,应是housework(家务活)。

5. C 由后面的not cleaning up their room or refusing to do the shopping可知,这里应是dropping the towel in the bathroom,一起为blame them的原因。

12. A 由下文中的munication is a two-way process可知,此处填munication。

13. D 由but可知,要选与lend an ear to(=listen to倾听)相对的talk。

18. were told 由句意或tell *** . sth.

19. but 这是考虑not…but…

21. for 因charge…for…

24. where 先行词是地点the beach且在定语从句中作状语,故填where (=on which =and on the beach =and there)。

However, he can play very difficult musical pieces by musicians such as Chopin and Beethoven just a few minutes after he hears them可知选D。

由第二段最后两句 “Samuel wanted to bee a lawyer as it was the wish of his parents, but music teachers told him he should study music instead. Now, he studies law and music”可知选B,Samuel按照父母的意愿是想做律师的,而不是做音乐家。

Samuel can’t understand why everyone is so surprised和第三四句 “I suddenly decided to start playing the piano, without being able to read music and without having any lessons. It es easily to me ---I hear the notes and can bear them in mind---each and every note”可知,他不用看音符就能演奏钢琴,故选C。

Samuel says confidently, “It’s all about super memory---I guess I have that gift.”

由第三段第三句“I thought it was beautiful,” she said, explaining why she’d taken to writing it at the bottom of all her letters可知,选A。

本题是问“谁想出这句话来的”,由第四段中的 “It was in a restaurant that Anne wrote the phrase down on a piece of paper”可知,是Anne Herbert想出这句话来的。

由第二段的第二句 “After countless interviews and presentations, I managed to stand out among the candidates and survive the test alone”可推知,作者面临了与其他候选人的激烈竞争。

However, ocean expert Curtis Ebbe *** eyer does it in a special way---by studying movements of random floating garbage,由此可知选C。

Version 1:

Oseola McCarty was a laundrywoman for more than 75 years. She earned a few dollars each time. But she donated $150,000 which was her life savings to help the students who needed financial help.

I think her behavior is worth praising and very unselfish. Everyone should help others in need. But how much to donate should be based on our actual situation. The $150,000 is very helpful to the students who have financial problems. They can buy many things they need as other students. And they may be more grateful and kinder. Therefore, it’s more likely for them to help others in the future.

If I am going to give donations, I will choose students too. They are in the most important period in their life. They need to get a long education. They have to buy a lot of books, pencil-cases, pens, erasers and so on, which will certainly cost a lot. They are growing up rapidly, which needs a lot of nutrition. If they don’t have enough money, they can’t eat enough food and take in enough energy. In a word, money is very important to students.

Tony Bennett, the American singer recently touring Britain, can't remember how many times he has sung his standard hit "I Left My Heart in San Francisco". He sang it again to his audience at the London Palladium last night.

"I never get tired of singing it," he said, "I like it very much. It's a great city and it's a good song."

Bennett is to record a TV special with the American singer Lena Horne while he is here. And a new LP recorded by him in London for Philips titled "Listen Easy" will be published in June.

"I like it here," he added quietly over whiskey. "I would like to live here so many months of the year."

He already keeps a large flat in Grosvenor Square, where he is staying with his actress wife Sandie Grant and their three-year-old daughter Joanna. It has a studio where he likes to paint. Tony plans to have his first exhibition later in the year and he has already sold one picture for $4,000. At the end of the year Tony is to star in a musical film which has been specially written for him called "Two Bits", an informal expression for 50 cents. It's about an Italian immigrant(移民) who goes to America, but he becomes a failure.

"In many ways it's very close to my life the way the story has been written," said Bennett. "My father, an Italian, was ill and died when I was nine. He always wanted me to sing, but he never lived long enough to be a part of my success."

No one can believe that the over 6,300-kilometer Great Wall might disappear some day. Believe it or not, the Great Wall is being destroyed by people. Less than 20 percent of the Great Wall built in the Ming Dynasty, is still perfect, but about 80 percent is in danger. The Great Wall can be called "great" mostly because of its amazing length. But we should realize that the length was made up of one brick at a time. If we do nothing to save the Great Wall, it will become a series of separate wasteland rather than a historic site.

The Great Wall is actually a series of walls built and rebuilt by different dynasties over the past 2,000 years. It began in the rule of China's first emperor, Qin Shihuang of the Qin Dynasty(221 BC-206 BC), and lasted into the Ming Dynasty. The parts built before the Ming Dynasty have nearly disappeared. People are familiar with sections such as Badaling in Beijing and Jiayuguan Pass in Gansu, because they have been open to tourists for many years. But those sections far away from the public eyes have been almost forgotten.

Few local people knew the 3-metre-high walls made of earth and stones beside them are part of the Great Wall. The lack of knowledge is considered as one of the main reasons behind human.

The bricks on the Great Wall are carried off by countryside people to build their houses, sheep corrals and pigsties. Some were taken away to build roads. Bricks carved with people's names are put away as remembrances. Rubbish is spread over the battlements. The bricks can be sold for 15 yuan per tractor load. Those who destroyed and are destroying the Wall know its name, but are not clear about its cultural meaning. It will take a long time to let them know this. The local farmers not only carried off the body of the Wall but also dug out the entire base.

It is necessary to protect the Great Wall. First of all, the officials should be aware of the importance of the Great Wall. Young Chinese should know more about the nation's great civilization and learn to love it.

64. Why does the writer say the Great Wall might disappear?

A. It is useless from now on.

B. It will be replaced by a new one.

C. Some parts of it are being destroyed.

D. It is too old to be used again.

65. According to the passage, which of the following is TRUE?

A. The Great Wall was completed in the Ming Dynasty.

B. Not all the foreign tourists like the Great Wall.

C. The first part of the Great Wall was built in 221 BC.

D. The Qin Great Wall was protected well.

66. The underlined part "those sections far away from the public eyes" (in Paragraph 2) refers to the parts of the Great Wall _____.

A. that are too difficult to find

B. nobody can watch

C. that are too far to be seen

D. that are not well-known to the public

67. What's the main reason of the Great Wall's being destroyed?

A. The local people are short of culture knowledge.

B. The local people need bricks and stones to build houses.

C. The local people think that the Great Wall is not important.

D. The local people sell the bricks for a living.

In the 1960s, people asked about your astrological sign(星相). In the 1990s, they wanted to know your website (网址). These days, having a web address is almost as important as a street address. Your website is an electronic meeting place for your family, friends and potentially, millions of people around the world. Best of all, you may not have to spend a cent. The Web is filled with all kinds of free services and all it takes is some time and creativity.

Think of your home page as the starting point of your website. Like the table of contents of a book or a magazine, the home page is the front door. Your site can have one or more pages, depending on how you design it.

While web pages vary greatly in their design and content, most use a traditional magazine layout At the top of the page is a banner(大标题) GRAPHIC. Next comes a greeting and a short description of the site. Pictures, texts, and links to other websites follow.

Before you start building your site, do some planning. Think about whom the site is for and what you want to say. Next, gather up the material that you want to put on the site. Draw a rough layout on a sheet of paper.

While there are no rules you have to follow, there are a few things to keep in mind:

Start simply If you are too ambitious (雄心勃勃的) at the beginning, you may never get the site off the ground. You can always add to your site.

Less is better Most people don't like to read a lot of text online. Break it into small pieces.

Smaller is better Most people connect to the Internet with a modem Since it can take a long time to download large image files, keep the file sizes small.

Have the rights Don't put any material on your site unless you are sure you can do it legally (合法地). Learn the Net's Copyright Article for more about this.

Now it's time to roll up your sleeves and start building. Learning the Net Communities provides tools to help you build your site.

68. The main purpose of the passage is to tell you _____.

A. what a website is like

B. how to build your own website

C. how to meet people online

D. what a website is made up of

69. According to the writer, your website is a place _____.

Grandma Moses is among the most famous twentieth-century painters of the United States, yet she had only just begun painting in her late seventies. As she once said of herself: “I would never sit back in a rocking-chair, waiting for someone to help me.”

She was born on a farm in New York State. At twelve she left home and was in a service until at twenty-seven, she married Thomas Moses, the tenant of hers. They farmed most of their lives. She had ten children, of whom five survived; her husband died in 1928.

Grandma Moses painted a little as a child and made embroidery pictures as a hobby, but only changed to oils in old age because her hands had become too stiff to sew and she wanted to keep busy and pass the time. Her pictures were first sold at an exhibition, and were soon noticed by a businessman who bought everything she painted. Three of the pictures were shown in the Museum of Modern Art, and in 1940 she had her first exhibition in New York. Between the 1930‘s and her death she produced some 2,000 pictures: careful and lively pictures of the country life she had known, with a wonderful sense of color and form.

In the fall of 1924 Thomas Wolfe, fresh from his courses in play writing at Harvard joined the eight or ten of us who were teaching English composition in New York University. I had never before seen a man so tall as he, and so ugly. I pitied him and went out of my way to help him with his work and make him feel at home.

His students soon let me know that he had no need of my protectiveness. They spoke of his ability to explain a poem in such a manner as to have them shouting with laughter or struggling to keep back their tears, of his readiness to quote in detail from any poet they could name.

Indeed, his students made so much of his power of observation that I decided to make a little test and see for myself. My chance came one morning when the students were slowly gathering for nine o‘clock classes.

Upon arriving at the university that day, I found Wolfe alone in the large room which served all the English composition teachers as an office. He did not say anything when I asked him to come with me out into the hall, and he only smiled when we reached a classroom door and I told him to enter alone and look around.

He stepped in, remained no more than thirty seconds and then came out. “Tell me what you see.” I said as I took his place in the room, leaving him in the hall with his back to the door. Without the least hesitation and without a single error, he gave the number of seats in the room, pointed out those which were taken by boys and those occupied by girls, named the colors each student was wearing, pointed out the Latin verb written on the blackboard, spoke of the chalk marks which the cleaner had failed to wash from the floor, and pictured in detail the view of Washington Square from the window.

As I rejoined Wolfe, I was speechless with surprise. He, on the contrary, was wholly calm as he said, “The worst thing about it is that I‘ll remember it all.”

D. Wolfe did not feel angry when he was tested.

( )57. What do we learn about Wolfe from the passage?

A. He tried hard to remember what was in the classroom.

B. He stayed in the classroom for a short time.

C. He stayed drew a picture of Washington Square.

D. He followed the author into the classroom.

( )58. What can be inferred from the passage?

A. The author was happy to see the test result.

B. What the students said was hardly true.

C. Wolfe would remember forever what the author had done.

D. Wolfe felt joyful after he had been tested.

The trick in food photography is to show the food looking fresh, so many dishes have stand-ins, just as movie stars do. “When I get my lights and cameras set up, I remove the stand-in and put in the real thing,” explains Ray Webber, who photographs food for magazine advertisements. “Sometimes I have to brush the meat with its juices because it may have dried out a bit. A and when I‘m shooting (拍照) something like tomatoes, I always carry water to spray them with dew just before I shoot.”

Shooting food outdoors has special problems. “I‘m always worrying about flies or worms crawling up a glass,” Webber explains, “my worry is that someday a dog will come up from behind and run off with the food.” Once Webber was shooting a piece of cheese outdoors and needed something to make its color beautiful. Finally he found it: a weed with lovely blue flowers. When the shot appeared, several people were horrified-the weed was deadly nightshade!

21. at my classmates' faces, I read the same excitement in their eyes.

A. Looking B. Look C. To look D. Looked

21. 答案:A

22. In the spoken English of some areas in the US, the "r" sounds at the end of the words .

A. are dropped B. drop

C. are being dropped D. have dropped

23. ---Good morning. I've got an appointment with Miss Smith in the Personnel Department.

--Ah, good morning. You be Mrs. Peters.

A. might B. must C. would D. can

Peters了"因此排除A,C.D

24. --I'm not finished with my dinner yet.

--But our friends for us.

A. will wait B. wait C. have waited D. are waiting

A. advertised B. to be advertised

C. advertising D. having advertised

25. 答案:A

26. --I'm sorry, but I don't quite follow you. Did you say you wanted to return on September 20?

--Sorry, I myself clear. We want to return on October 20.

A. hadn't made B. wouldn't make

C. don't make D. haven't made

根据句意我们只能选didn't make或者haven't made.

27. Children who are not active or diet is high in fat will gain weight quickly.

A. what B. whose C. which D. that

28. It took me a long time before I was able to fully appreciate what they __ for me.

A. had done B. did C. would do D. were doing

28. 答案:A

29. Would you mind not picking the flowers in the garden? They are everyone's enjoyment.

A. in B. at C. for D. to

A. who B. where C. what D. how

A. what B. that C. why D. whether

32. 答案:B

A. wouldn't die B. didn't die

C. hadn't died D. wouldn't have died

If it had rained even a drop, my vegetables wouldn't have died.

If+ had done,主句为couldn’t/ shouldn't/ wouldn't have done.

35. First impressions are the most lasting. After all, you never get __ second chance to make __ first impression.

A. a; the B. the; the C. a; a D. the; a

35. 答案:A

解析:很多同学错在第二个空to make a first impression上了。 本题强调的重点是第二个机会a second chance;第二次留一个第一印象,make a first impression. first为干扰因素。

You never get a second chance to change the first impression。

前面unpleasant voice 和 direct way of speaking是消极意向,后面encouraging 和 inspiring是积极意向,因此需填转折连词,四个选项中A表并列,C表结果,D表原因,只有B选项yet表转折。

know nothing about sth

解题线索在后半句 “so I began to show up to paint more and more ” 作者做的事情变多是Mrs.

表示“再一次、又一次”但是放在这里与over意思重复,paint over it later相当于 paint it again, 故不选A。

A easily 容易的。

Be recognized as“被公认为、被承认”。 Introduce 介绍、引入,be identified as“ 被确定是”,有验证身份的意思,be considered as “被认为、被当作”。

Being with sb 与某人在一起。 Neidl是“ one of the directors”,所以不能说是她的团队。

Be afraid害怕。

He wants to be pushed, challenged, coached to new heights..

62.A

Our best hope Our best hope in keeping our best reporters, copy editors, photographers, artists---everyone--is to work harder to make sure they get the help they are demanding to reach their potential再结合前面60题的答案,不难选出正确答案。

Sara felt Betty didn't hold up her end of the conversation

65.B

67.A

There are pressing calls on the resources (资源) of the government. Using taxpayers' money to help a small number of people to earn high incomes in the future is not one of them. ww往前看,发现前句就一个复数名词,就它了。

69.D

根据题干关键词"full government funding"定位原文,根据"文题顺序一致"原则从上一题them后面去找,会找到Full government funding (资助) is not very good for universities….and when the academics were lazy and incompetent, the students were similarly lazy.

70.A

Many people believe that higher education should be free…

It's similar to the music you listen to…

前句when people are more tired. B. The music gives them extra energy. F. They get as much as $4 million a year if their songs are used.

75.A

But other people enjoy hearing…,故选择A. Some people don't like Muzak.

One possible version:

Lst weekend, I helped my grandparents prepare their trip to Beidaihe. On Saturday morning, together with my grandparents, I seached the Internet for the train schedule, the weather in Beidaile, and some hotel information. In the afternoon, I went to the train station and managed to buy two tickets for my grandparents although there was a long queue. After dinner, I packed into the suitcase the things my grandparents reed, such as clothes, glasses, an unbrella, and a map. The next morning, I went to the station to see them off. Waving goodbye to them on the platform, I felt happy for them and wished them a safe jouney.

One possible version:

In the picture, between two closely-lcated buildings grows a big tree. Unlike most trees, this one bends in the middle , struggling all the way up to get more sunshine. The picture reminds me of those who secceed in unfavorable conditions. Faced with difficulties, they never give up but try their best to find a way out. Life can be hard. But if we have the courage and determination, we will finally get the sunshine we want as the tree in the pictrue does.
