孔子诞生于公元前551年，到2016年，孔子的诞辰已有2567年纪念日。

孔子诞辰日：孔子诞辰日指纪念孔子诞辰的节日，为夏历八月廿七或阳历9月28日。全称孔子诞辰纪念日。孔子是春秋时期的著名教育家，被尊为“至圣先师”，诞生于公元前551年今山东省济宁市曲阜市。

孔子的诞辰日期一直存在争议，至今没有明确。民国期间，是以民间接受程度较高的，《谷梁传》所记载的孔子诞辰日期为标准，即“农历八月二十七日”。由于当时推行西学，并且，也为方便后人纪念，便将其推算为西历，但西方主要历法有两部，即“孺略历”和“格里历”，分别推算为“孺略历西元前551年10月4日”和“格里历西元前551年9月28日”，最终，民国选择了主流的“格里历”，于是将当时的“教师节”定为9月28日，但在中国目前尚未被官方确立为法定节日(1985年开始将9月10日订为教师节)

目前，台湾、香港等地多延续以往对孔子诞辰日的认知,将孔子诞辰日错认为阳历9月28日,并设为法定教师节。在香港，孔子诞辰日不是法定日或公众期，只有部份学校会放，但于2006年10月，香港孔教学院表示与香港的一些宗教团体就孔子诞辰日的夏历日子成为公众期达成共识。

孔子简介：孔丘（公元前551年9月28日），字仲尼。排行老二，汉族人，春秋时期鲁国人。孔子是我国古代伟大的思想家和教育家，儒家学派创始人，世界最著名的文化名人之一。编撰了我国第一部编年体史书《春秋》。

据有关记载，孔子出生于鲁国陬邑昌平乡（今山东省曲阜市东南的南辛镇鲁源村）；孔子逝世时，享年73岁，葬于曲阜城北泗水之上，即今日孔林所在地。孔子的言行思想主要载于语录体散文集《论语》及先秦和秦汉保存下的《史记·孔子世家》。

孔子思想体系的核心是德治主义，他执著地倡导德化社会与德化人生。德化社会的最高标准是“礼”，德化人生的最高价值是“仁”。孔圣人儒家学派创始人，世界最著名的文化名人，同时精通易经《十翼》所作者，孔子是中国古代突破对自然山水宗教式态度的第一人，我爱大自然更爱自然山水，大自然包涵灾难、地震、龙卷风、恐龙的灭绝等，而自然山水是永存的好风水，提出了“知者乐水，仁者乐山”（《论语·雍也》）的著名美学命题。
